When we first walked into this Zionsville garage, it had everything - three bikes mounted on the wall, two strollers, a chest freezer, a full-size refrigerator, kids' toys scattered across the floor, and boxes that hadn't been opened since the move-in. The family could barely get to their own things.
The goal was simple: make it functional. Give everything a home, clear the floor, and get the family to a place where they could actually use the space - not just survive it.
The Before
The garage had the classic signs of a space that had been used as overflow storage for years. Every flat surface had something on it. The floor had a path - not open space, a path. The slatwall on one wall was underused, with just a few things hanging while everything else piled up below it.
The Process
We started with a full haul-out - everything came off the walls and out of the corners. Once the garage was empty, we sorted into three piles with the homeowner: Keep, Toss, and Donate. A surprising amount went into the donate pile - stuff they'd forgotten they even had.
After the sort, we extended the slatwall system and added hooks for the bikes, a shelf for cleaning supplies, and baskets for the sports gear. Everything off the floor. Everything visible and accessible.
"This is exactly why we do this. One day, one family, one garage - completely transformed."
The Result
By end of day, the family had a garage they could walk into without frustration. The floor was clear. The wall was organized. The kids' car got hung on the slatwall. They could find everything in under ten seconds. That's the goal every time.
